A better example ... The 3 year long Korean War began in 1950 when communistNorth Korea invaded democratic and US supported South Korea, pulling the
United Nations into a peacekeeping effort in Asia. (ooooh, that's good - so good)
MY FACTS
1 - There is a great Korean War memorial in Washington D.C.. It's big and beutiful. It is a series of stone soldiers walking with guns strapped to them, and walkie talkies. The memorial really touches its audience.
2 - In North Korea the Soviets were making it into a communist nation, and in South Korea the U.S. was trying to keep it noncommunist. The dividing line of North Korea and South Korea is the 38th parrallel.
3- In 1950 North Korea invaded South Korea. This started the Korean War.
4- The noncommunists were trapped at there southernest pennisila, but the U.S. landed there troops at a city behind the enemy lines. The situation was reversed and the plan was a comlete succes.
5- MacArthur became a military hero after his first suprise attack on the communists. When he returned to the US everybody loved him, but he was fired by Truman and never returned to the military.
6- South Korea pushed the communists into China and China got involved. They attacked the North Koreans right away with hundreds of thousands of troops which drove them back to South Korea.
7- When the war was getting unpopular Dwight D. Eisenhower ran for president and won. He told the nation that he would go to Korea right away and solve the problem.
8- Nobody really won in the end of the war. North and South Korea were still divided at the 38th parrallel and communism still remained in North Korea.
9- Many people in the U.S. critized the war because the only thing it was doing was killing lives. 3 - Photos should help tell the story of the war, so find three photos that work ... and provide a descriptive caption, like the one on my example.

This is a map that descirbes who conquered what at different times throughout the war.
This map shows the battle of Inchon. It was the battle when McArthur turned the war around.
1 - You know historical quotes can bring old crusty things to life, so find one decent quote that helps add to the content of the Korean War (and provide some context for the quotes). For example ...
"The attack upon Korea makes it plain beyond all doubt that Communism has passed beyond the use of subversion to conquer independent nations and will now use armed invasion and war."- President Harry S Truman in his speech describing the military involvement of the US in Korea, without a declaration of war from Congress.

This quote describes "Ikes" thoughts on communism. It's a perfect example of how communism is bad and undesirable. In the quote the Jail symbolizes a communist country. ----
